On June 8, 2021, the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors established a new Code Compliance Advisory Committee.
The primary purposes of the committee are to
- develop recommendations to the Board for an effective code compliance process and program, and
- develop recommendations for innovative public policy and programs that address residents’ needs while also mitigating alleged violations. The committee is also to
- support work of staff in the conduct of fact finding and data gathering, and
- provide periodic assessment and evaluation of and feedback to the Board regarding the success of an amended process and program.
The CCAC may include people who are NOT property owners so long as they are RESIDENTS of the county. Property owners who do NOT live in the county are NOT eligible. What is required is residency (generally defined in this context as presence and the intent to remain). There is a reason for that: renters and other non-property owners sometimes suffer from poorly designed code enforcement that especially victimizes them. The CCAC needs their voices and perspective so their solutions can be considered.
The Board is accepting applications for 9 vacancies on this committee. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 5pm.
