A reminder that Rochelle Wilcox, Candidate for Congress, will be our Special Guest this coming Sunday, August 6, 2017, from 11a to 2p at Miner’s Roadhouse 140! When I was in college in the late 70s/early 80s, I teamed with one of my professors (Wally Tordoff) to help him with a population study on the endangered Limestone Salamander. This is a salamander found only within the Merced River canyon, and the particular population we were studying is (was?) located in Hell Canyon near Bagby along Hwy 49N.
The area has burned before, but not to the extent with which it burned during the Detwiler Fire this past week.
I can only hope our lil salamander buddies were buried deep enough that they escaped.
The Detwiler Fire siege is far from over, but there is a lot to be thankful for – especially for the firefighters who work so diligently to save and protect us all.
